Terms of service

Last updated 16 October 2026Version 2026-10-16

These terms are an agreement between your business and Apped ("we", "us"), which runs Avarix. By creating an account or using Avarix, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Avarix.

The service

Avarix gives your business an AI assistant, Ava, that answers phone calls and website chats at any hour, takes messages and can book appointments in a Google Calendar you connect. If you set a transfer number, Ava can put a caller through to you when they ask or agree. Otherwise she takes a message. There is no voicemail. Avarix also writes a summary of each conversation, emails you after each genuine call, keeps a list of the customers who get in touch, and collects the questions Ava could not answer so you can answer them. What you get depends on your plan.

Your account

  • You must be 18 or over and use Avarix for a business.
  • Keep your login details safe. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
  • Give us accurate details and keep them up to date.

Ava is an AI

Ava uses AI to understand and reply to people. It can make mistakes, misunderstand callers or give an answer that is not right. Summaries, transcripts, customer names and the knowledge entries Avarix drafts from your answers are also produced by AI and can be wrong. Check important messages and bookings, read drafts before you save them, and keep the information you give Ava accurate. You are responsible for what you tell Ava to say. Do not rely on Ava for emergencies or for advice that needs a qualified person.

Calls, chats and your callers

Avarix turns calls into text and keeps the transcript and a summary so you can see what was said. Calls are transcribed, not recorded: Avarix does not keep audio recordings of calls. For website chats, Avarix keeps any enquiry, callback request or booking and a summary, not a full copy of the chat.

You are responsible for telling your callers and website visitors that they are talking to an AI assistant and that what they say is transcribed, and for having a lawful reason to handle their details. Ava does not say it is an AI unless someone asks, and then it says it is an AI receptionist. The default greeting is "Hi, I'm Ava. How can I help?". You can edit it, and we recommend it says up front that Ava is an AI, for example "Hi, I'm Ava, the AI assistant for your business name". You must only use the service in a way that follows UK law, including data protection law.

You can block numbers yourself, for good or until a date you choose. Avarix may also mark some calls as likely spam. Those calls do not appear in your Inbox or send you an email, and a number that keeps making nuisance calls can be blocked automatically for 30 days. This can occasionally catch a genuine caller, so check your blocked numbers from time to time.

Acceptable use

You must not use Avarix to:

  • break the law, or mislead, harass or scam anyone
  • make unwanted marketing calls or send spam
  • tell people that Ava is a person
  • handle payment card numbers, health records or other especially sensitive data
  • try to break, overload or get around the limits of the service

We may suspend an account that breaks these rules. Where we can, we will tell you first.

Plans and payment

  • The Founder plan is £39 a month, with no VAT to add. It includes 70 calls a month, a UK business number, website chat, and a summary and transcript of each call.
  • Plans are paid monthly in advance. There are no yearly plans.
  • Avarix is in early access. We set up accounts by hand and confirm your plan with you before you pay.
  • Each call with Ava can last up to five minutes. Ava wraps up the call before then.
  • We will give you at least 30 days' notice by email before we change your price. If you do not want to pay the new price, you can cancel before it starts.
  • You can cancel at any time. Your plan stays active until the end of the month you have paid for. We do not refund part-months.

Fair use and charges

Every call to your Ava number costs us real money to run, so each plan includes a set number of calls a month.

  • What counts as a call. Every call that connects to your Ava number counts, however short. This includes calls where the caller says nothing, wrong numbers, calls Avarix marks as spam and calls from numbers you have blocked, because our phone provider charges us for each of them. Website chats do not use your calls.
  • When you reach your allowance. Ava keeps answering. Calls over your allowance still appear in your Inbox with a summary and transcript, marked as over your plan limit. We do not charge for them unless we have agreed a price for extra calls with you in writing first. If you often go over, we may get in touch about a plan that fits.
  • Website chat. Website chats have their own monthly allowance. If it runs out, new chats are told the chat is not available and asked to contact you directly until your allowance resets the next month.
  • Very busy periods. There is also an hourly and daily limit, set well above normal use, to protect against floods of calls. Calls over it are still answered and kept in your Inbox, marked as over the fair use limit.
  • Your plan is for your business. Do not resell Avarix, share your number with other businesses, or send automated or spam calls to it.
  • Abusive use. If an account's use looks abusive, for example a flood of automated calls, we will contact you first and may then limit or pause calls to your number.

Phone numbers

Phone numbers we provide stay ours. If your account closes, we may take the number back and give it to someone else. UK numbers may need business details for regulatory checks before they go live. If you forward your own number to Ava, the forwarding is set up with your phone provider, and any charges for it are between you and them.

Your data

Your business data stays yours. You give us permission to use it only to run Avarix for you. How we handle personal data is explained in our privacy policy. To get a copy of your data or have it deleted, email hello@avarix.app.

Availability

We work hard to keep Avarix running, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. Phone networks, AI providers and other services we rely on can fail.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Apart from that, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, missed calls or bookings, or indirect losses. Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in those 12 months.

Ending the agreement

You can close your account at any time. We can end this agreement with 30 days' notice, or straight away if you seriously break these terms.

Changes to these terms

If we make an important change, we will email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. When you next sign in, we will ask you to accept the new terms. If you keep using Avarix after the change takes effect, the new terms apply. Each version of these terms has a version number, shown at the top of this page, and we keep a record of which version you accepted and when.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts deal with any dispute.
